Some more info and pictures from Network Rail:
Passengers are being reminded that services between Aberdeen and Inverness will be disrupted this weekend as work to build the new Inverness Airport station continues.

The double tracking from Inverurie to Aberdeen, the creation of two new passing loops with the relocation of Forres station and now the Airport station at Dalcross combined should give a good deal more flexibility to make the timetable more robust.
However, the 2019 'Revolution in Rail' which promised a step change in rail service frequency has been replaced by a deterioration in service frequency - hopefully the rebound in passenger numbers will continue and the direction of travel (pardon the pun) will be reversed. If the Scottish Government wish to achieve their aim of a 20% reduction in km travelled by car by 2030, a big step change in rail frequency and capacity will be required as it pretty much needs a doubling of current rail modal share.
